Eugenia Witte, 96

Eugenia Witte, 96 years, of Bryan, passed away Wednesday evening, April 9, 2014 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance.  Eugenia was born September 18, 1917 in Mark Center, the daughter of the late Haze and Mary Ann (Wheaton) Wheeler.  Eugenia was a 1935 graduate of Mark Center High School.  She married Howard D. Witte on February 11, 1941, and he preceded her in death on August 9, 1992.  Eugenia was a cook for Bryan City Schools.  She previously worked for Spangler Candy Company and Allied Moulded Products.  She also assisted her husband running the family farm.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her three sons, Gary (Maureen) Witte of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Terry (Sharon) Witte of Bryan and Greg Witte of West Unity; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, daughter, Carol Ann Jayne, two brothers and seven sisters.

Visitation for Eugenia Witte will be held Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan.  Funeral services will be held Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 509 Center Street, Bryan with Pastor Mary Beth Smith-Gunn officiating.  Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
