Fatal crash Tuesday on U.S. 24 in Paulding County.

The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred on Tuesday, March 4th, at 12:41 p.m. The crash occurred on U.S. 24, near Mile Post 18, in Emerald Township, Paulding County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by 62 year old Michael K. Zelek, of Canton, Michigan, was traveling westbound on U.S. 24 when his vehicle crossed through the grass median and entered the eastbound lanes of U.S. 24. The Zelek vehicle was struck by an eastbound vehicle, operated by 44 year old David L. Stevens, of Mooresville, Indiana. The Stevens vehicle continued off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Michael Zelek was pronounced deceased at the scene. David Stevens and a passenger, 24 year old Hunter J. Walters, of Greenfield, Indiana were transported from the scene to ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
