FIRE NEAR WAUSEON

A small, unattached apartment near Wauseon was destroyed by fire early Monday morning.

The fire was reported around 1:45am at 16520 Ohio 2 by a passerby.

The building, owned by Wendell Wood, was being used for storage and had been unoccupied for a long time.

When fire crews arrived, the building was completely engulfed in flames. It’s been ruled a total loss, and damage has been estimated at around $20,000.

The cause is still under investigation due to the fact that there was no electricity connected to the building and no obvious fuel source.

No one was hurt.
