A Holgate man learned his fate Wednesday in Williams County Court after being accused of sex crimes.
Robert Plotts, a former corrections officer at the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Center, was sentenced yesterday to five years of community control, with 180-days of house arrest.
Plotts was convicted last month of attempted sexual battery with a minor after pleading guilty to consensual sex with a 17-year-old female inmate at the Detention Center in Stryker.
Prosecutors had pushed for more time, saying Plotts should serve 17 months in Federal Prison and then be required to register as a lifetime sex offender.
As part of his sentencing, Plotts will have to wear an ankle bracelet with a GPS system, he is prohibited from buying or consuming alcohol, or entering an establishment that serves it by the glass. He will have to pay $50 per month for supervision fees, plus all court costs associated with the case.
Plotts also is prohibited from having contact with anyone under the age of 17, and specifically, the victim in the case.
If Plotts violates any of the terms of his sentencing, he will be locked behind bars immediately for at least 180 days at CCNO.
