Frank Dean Griffin, age 90, of Stryker, passed away Monday evening, June 22, 2015, in his home. Prior to his retirement, he had worked at the former Acklin Stamping in Toledo.
He was born in Swanton, Ohio on December 25, 1924, the son of Frank G. and Sylvia L. (Eberly) Griffin. On November 11, 1946 he married Rita B. Buck, and she preceded him in death in 2010. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. His memberships included the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Disabled Vets, and Catalina International. His accommodations include Philippine Liberation, Asiatic Pacific, American Area, Kodiak Alaska, China-Burma-India, 3-Star Aircrew Insignia, Good Conduct, Victory and the Presidential Unit. Among his hobbies were, he was a Multi-Tradesman, he loved hunting and fishing and was an artist.
Surviving are seven daughters, Rosemarie (Dick Young), Bonnita (Gary Kaake), Patricia (Leslie Doriot), Sandra (Richard Schwartz), Diane (Larry Kagy), Debora (Joseph Skonecki), Annette (Ronald Haar); three sons, Tom (Rita), Larry (Cheryl), Doug; 26 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Rita; and 18 year-old grandson, Matthew Harr.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Stryker. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in the church, as well. Military Rites will be accorded following the service, by the Stryker American Legion Post. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville.
