Frank E. Walter, 84 years, of Hamilton, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at DeKalb Memorial Hospital, Auburn, Indiana. Frank was born January 5, 1930 in Butler, Indiana, the son of the late Grover and Ruth Delight (Houghton) Walter. He married Donna R. Jones on March 24, 1950 in Butler, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on February 12, 1995. Frank was a machinist for the former International Harvester in Fort Wayne for over 20 years, retiring in 1985. Frank served the Hamilton community as a volunteer fireman with the Hamilton Fire Department for many years. He was also a member of the Hamilton Lions Club.
Surviving are his four children, Colin (Linda) Walter of Butler, Indiana, Dawn (Tom) Shank of Hamilton, Indiana, Cheryl (Donald) Warner of Angola, Indiana and Rick (Judy) Humes of Auburn, Indiana; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Ryann Poole, two sisters, Ruth and Helen and three brothers, Howard, Ford and Marion.
Visitation for Frank E. Walter will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home & Crematory, 3985 East Church Street, Hamilton where funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 with Rodney Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Cemetery.
