A former General Motors team leader has taken up a free bicycle program, after his brother-in-law started the program. Larry Sparks repairs bikes and gives them away to needy families. Sparks gets many requests every day. He said he has about 100 bikes on hand now, and said he’s received requests from Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Williams and Wood counties, plus more. Those interested in donating unused bicycles to the project can drop them off at Sims Metal Management, 27063 Ohio 281, Defiance.
