George Lewis Beatty, 81

On March 23, 1936, God made a farmer, and on September 21, 2017, God called him home. George Lewis Beatty, Age 81, passed away with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in West Unity, Ohio, to George Glenn and Mae (Netcher) Beatty. He was a 1954 graduate of West Unity High School, where he was involved in FFA and received his State and American Farmer Degrees.

At the age of 23, upon the passing of his father, George took over the family farm which was established in 1835. On July 26th, 1958, he married Corrin Meyers and together they were married 50 wonderful years and raised four children.

In his lifetime, he was a Pioneer Seed Salesman, a 4-H Advisor, a grain farmer, cattle feeder, breeder and livestock relocator, starting his own trucking company, Bovinland Inc., in 1994.

After Corrin’s passing in 2008, George was blessed to find love again and married Janice Humbarger on February 19th, 2011.

George was a member of the Unity Antique Tractor Club and enjoyed pulling with his Olivers in local tractor pulls with his grandsons. He was a member of Solid Rock Community Church, West Unity.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, George Kevin (Tina) Beatty, Rhonda Throne, Jane (Richard) Lesniak, all of West Unity, and Sari (Harold) Brown of Monterey, TN, and a step-son, Gerry (Heather) Humbarger of Montpelier. Grandchildren, Kristen Kerr, George Brian (Brianna) Beatty, Stephanie (Brady) Ruffer, Jason Throne, Jenna (Brian) Browneller, Morgan McCandless, Josh, Jake and Justin Lesniak, Damon Brown, Cole (Callie) Brown, Zachary Brown, eight great-grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, sixteen step-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Margaret (James) Opicka of Kettering, Ohio.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Dorothy Miller and Mary Lou JoHantgen, and a step-daughter, Sherri Thompson of Montpelier.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Solid Rock Community Church, 102 Egly Drive, West Unity, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at Solid Rock Church on Tuesday, September 26th at 11:00 a.m.

Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will take place at Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity.
