George A. McCarthy, age 70, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 9:40 A.M. on Monday, October 27, 2014, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton after a brief illness. Mr. McCarthy attended New Washington, Ohio, High School and was a retired railroad worker. He was a former member of Bryan Eagles, Aerie #2233, and enjoyed going to the Edgerton American Legion to socialize, as well as playing bingo and euchre at the Edgerton Senior Center and attending Edgerton Bulldog sporting events. He was also a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State University.
George A. McCarthy was born on August 17, 1944, in Bucyrus, Ohio, the son of George and Evelyn (Boveine) McCarthy. He married Mary A. Dockery on December 28, 1992, in Norwalk, Ohio, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Alice (Wesley) Morrow, of Bucyrus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Samantha and Wesley Morrow; his twin brother, Edward (Kathryn) McCarthy, of Bucyrus; one sister, Janice (Allan) Jamison, of Willard, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Don Feik and Floyd Leddick; and a stepsister, Betty Burky. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Clarence Love, two stepdaughters, Lisa Renea and Ashley Joann Dockery; three sisters, Norma Feik, Loretta Leddick and Joan Tuck; two stepbrothers, Leslie Love and LeRoy Love; and his therapy cat, Goofy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with visitation two hours prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 P.M. Interment will be held in Sherwood Cemetery at a later date.
