Glenn D. Semer, 84

Glenn D. Semer, 84, of Pioneer passed away Monday morning at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance. He was born on August 18, 1931 in Alvordton to Ray and Myrtle Leone (Freese) Semer. Glenn graduated from Alvordton High School in 1949. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. In 1954 he graduated from Andrew Barber College in Toledo.

Glenn retired after 39 years as an owner / operator truck driver. Prior to that he worked with B&H, a division of Bryan Truck Lines. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Mason Lodge #179 in West Unity, Montpelier Eagles #1064, and Pioneer American Legion #307.

He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Waite of Angola, Indiana and Diane (Dave) Nixon of Montpelier; one son Gregory Semer of Decatur, Indiana; and six grandchildren, Erika McKelvey, Travis Waite, Ryan Waite, Carsen Nixon, Caitlyn Nixon, and McKendry Semer.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, a stillborn and Scott in 1995, three brothers Wayne, Harry and Marlo Semer, and two sisters, Linda Knepper and Leota White.

As per Glenn’s request there will be no visitation or service. Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer will be his final resting place. Memorial contributions may be made to Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.
