Grace A. Cape, age 89, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 6:22 P.M. on Thursday, December 15, 2016, shortly after admittance to Defiance Mercy Hospital. Mrs. Cape was a graduate of North Richland Adams High School in Defiance, Ohio, and was a longtime resident of Edgerton. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society and formerly was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. For many years she was an election day poll worker. Grace was a talented seamstress and was also a blue ribbon baker of sugar cookies and cinnamon rolls.
Grace A. Cape was born on April 21, 1927, in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of John W. and Mary C. (Willitzer) Wagner. She married Conrad J. Cape on October 23, 1948, in Defiance, and he preceded her in death on August 10, 2004.
Survivors include three daughters, Anna Marie Cramb, of Defiance, Rose Ann (Don Stanek)Cape, of Myakka City, Florida, and Jean (Bill) Muehlfeld, of Bryan, Ohio; four sons, Mark L. (Becky) Cape, of Edgerton, Matthew J. (Linda) Cape, of Butler, Indiana, John L. (Candy) Cape, of Warsaw, Indiana, and Luke L. (Tina) Cape, of Edgerton; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Valerie Barber and Marcella (Jerry) Froelich, of Defiance, and Martha (Chuck) Konecny, of Bowling Green, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Rosemary Eisel, Irene Baker, Mary Gillen and JoAnn Keil; and eight brothers, Carl, Bernard, Justin, Walter, Raymond, Paul, John and James Wagner.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, with recitation of the rosary at 8:00 P.M. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Reverend Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Edgerton.
