A bill backed by U.S. Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) was signed into law by President Donald Trump last week. The Halt All Lethal Trafficking (HALT) of Fentanyl Act was signed by Trump Wednesday and became law Thursday. Husted, who is not listed as one of the bill’s 31 co-sponsors, helped the bill pass the Senate during a 84-16 vote on March 14. According to the official summary, the bill placed fentanyl-related substances into schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act.
