Harold Walter Vogelsong, age 82, of Defiance, Ohio, died at 5:08 A.M. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Community Health Partners Inpatient Hospice in Defiance. Mr. Vogelsong was a lithographer for over 45 years, retiring from Reese Brothers in Perrysburg. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bryan. He enjoyed wood carving, carpentry, sailing and camping. Mr. Vogelsong served our country during the Korean War, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army.
Harold W. Vogelsong was born on June 21, 1930, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Charles W. and Margaurite (Mawhorr) Vogelsong. He married Barbara Joan Flegal on June 23, 1951, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she survives.
Survivors also include his children, Nanette Enox, of Sherwood, Sandy M. (Patricia) Vogelsong, of Edgerton, David (Roberta) Vogelsong, of Defiance, Barbara (Gary) Grant, of Mark Center, Gary (Shirley) Vogelsong, of Liberty Center and Roxanne (Rodney) Gerardot, of Defiance; 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; bothers, Ralph Vogelsong, of Napoleon, William (Elizabeth) Vogelsong, of Paulding, Howard (Juanita) Vogelsong, of Sherwood and a sister, Edna Beardsley, of Sherwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Matthew Vogelsong and infant children, Harold, Jr, Richard and Lucinda, grandchildren, Shayne Holifield, Evan Hudson and Susan Vogelsong, great granddaughter, Maria Spangler, brother Kenneth Vogelsong and infant sisters, Barbara and Patricia Vogelsong.
Of all his accomplishments and talents, Harold’s greatest achievements have been in the lives of his family. He had a unique gift to recognize and appreciate the talents of his entire family and to make them feel loved and cared for to the very end of his time on earth. His creative mind and kind heart touched the lives of many.
He leaves his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with the knowledge that they were deeply loved and they know that he loved the Lord.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan with President Rodney Ward officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M., prior to the service. Interment will follow in Ney Cemetery with grave side military rites will be provided by the Bryan V.F.W. Post 2489.
