Hobart Dean Young, 97 years, of Downers Grove, Illinois, and formerly of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Wednesday evening, June 5, 2013 at Arbor Terrace in Alpharetta, Georgia, where he was a residing. Hobart was born March 5, 1916 in Bryan, Ohio the son of the late Lorin and Jeannette (McKelvey) Young. He was a 1934 graduate of Bryan High School. He married Donna L. Schatzer on April 15, 1944 in Bryan, and she survives. Hobart was employed by United Airlines, for 35 years, starting out as a mechanic and retiring in 1976 as a Flight Engineer. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage, fixing items as they needed repaired.
Surviving are his wife, Donna L. of Alpharetta, Georgia; his daughter, JoEllen Young of Winfield, Illinois; one son, David (Linda) Young of Marietta, Georgia; five grandchildren, David (Jana) Porter of Denver, Colorado, Paul (Hayley) Wrezinski of Naperville, Illinois, Katherine (Ryan) Pace of Woodstock, Georgia, Jennifer (Wade) Huffman of Acworth, Georgia and Danielle Young of Marietta, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Lainey Huffman and Liam Wrezinski. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Laura Kesler, Clara Smith and Mildred Connin and one brother, Howard Young.
Funeral services for Hobart Dean Young will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan with Pastor Barry Sweet officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. The family will receive guest 30 minutes prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
