Home Destroyed By Flames In Montpelier

Williams County fire­fight­ers were called out to a house fire in Mont­pe­lier Fri­day morn­ing. It hap­pened at the Rory Mer­cer home on East Main Street around 7:30 Fri­day morn­ing.

Inves­ti­ga­tors say it appears that the fire started on the sec­ond floor of the home, and all those liv­ing there were able to get otu safely.

No cause has yet been deter­mined, but so far, the fire does not appear to be sus­pi­cious. The inves­ti­ga­tion is con­tin­u­ing today.
