Hoops to run for Ohio Senate.

Ohio 81st House District Rep. Jim Hoops of Napoleon has declared his candidacy for the Ohio Senate in 2026. Hoops, a Republican, will try for the 1st District seat which represents Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Williams counties, and northern Logan County. Republican Rob McColley of Napoleon holds the position now, but his term will end in December 2026, and he is not permitted to seek re-election due to state term limits.
