Ida Mae Geiger, age 87, of Wauseon, passed away September 6, 2017 in Defiance Area Hospice In-Patient Care Center. Prior to retirement she taught nursing at Medical College of Ohio and Buckeye School of Nursing, as well as practiced nursing at Fulton County Hospital. She was a graduate of The Ohio State University and received her masters from Bowling Green State University.
Ida Mae was born in Hamilton, Ohio on November 19, 1929, the daughter of the late Clinton and Della (Sweet) Rush. In 1952, she married Clair R. Geiger, who preceded her in death in 2014. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Wauseon where she was very active. She was involved in the Red Cross, was a past president of the Ohio Organization of Practical Nurses, and worked the election board.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Raymond Rush. Surviving family members are her son, Michael C. Geiger (Kimberly) of Loudon, Tennessee, her brother Clinton Rush and her grandchildren Jared, Jessica, Morgan and Kaleb.
Funeral services will be held the Crossroads Evangelical Church in Wauseon on Monday September 11, 2017 at 10:00am with Pastor Matt Boyers and Pastor Bill Kerr officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton, Ohio on Tuesday September 12. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2:00-4:00pm at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cancer Society, Crossroads Church, or the United Church of Christ in Wauseon. The Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entruste with arrangements.
