The Iron Horse River Trail will be paved…after a setback earlier this year resulted in village officials re-bidding the project. The plan is to pave a trail running from North Pleasant Street to River Street and include two wooden piers over low ground. The Montpelier Village Council recently voted to award the bid to State Highway Clearing for $1.1 million dollars the lowest of three bids for the project. The money will come from a grant the village received from the Ohio Department of Transportation. The resolution awarding the bid passed unanimously with a suspension of the rules requiring three readings. Village officials tried to bid the project out earlier this year, but needed to re-bid the project when no contractor thought they could do the project within 10% of the estimated cost.
