Jack B. Stoner, 85

Jack B. Stoner, 85 years, of West Unity, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at his home. Jack was born February 9, 1930 in West Unity, Ohio, the son of the late Beryl V. and Frances Ruth (Davis) Stoner. He was a 1948 graduate of West Unity High School. He married Dortha Ann Pinkerton on December 10, 1950 in Findlay, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on January 26, 2015. Jack was a self-employed truck driver, beginning in a partnership with his mother and brother, eventually owning his own truck. After the sale of his personal truck, Jack drove truck for Bryan Truck Lines for 10 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the West Unity Presbyterian Church, where he previously served as an Elder. He also was involved in NORTA-Rails to Trails organization. He spent many hours dedicated to maintaining the trails in Williams County. Jack enjoyed camping, traveling and sailing. Jack and Dortha enjoyed spending winters as snowbirds in Florida.

Surviving are his three children, Allan (Marcia) Stoner of Waldport, Oregon, Dale (Marilyn) Stoner of Stryker and Beryl (Eric) Bartkus of Ada, Michigan; five grandchildren, Mary McCall Schenthal, Matthew Stoner, Eric (Laura) Stoner, Erin Bartkus and Amy Bartkus; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Stoner and Scarlett Stoner; one brother, Ted (Jean) Stoner of Winter Haven, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dortha and one brother, Doyle Stoner.

Visitation for Jack B. Stoner will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity. Funeral services for Jack will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the funeral home, with Rev. Thomas Steensma officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity.
