Jack D. Sutton, age 89, of Edon, Ohio, died at 7:15 A.M. on Tuesday, February, 9, 2016, at Betz Nursing Home, in Auburn, Indiana, after an extended illness. Mr. Sutton was a1945 graduate of Metz, Indiana, High School and was a lifelong farmer. He was employed by Modernaire in Angola, Indiana, and transferred to The Aro Corporation in Bryan, Ohio, from where he retired 1993 with over twenty years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II, was a member of the Edon American Legion and was proud of the fact that four of his sons served in the military. He was also a doting grandfather to all of his grandchildren.
Jack D. Sutton was born on December 29, 1926, in Metz, Indiana, the son of Gerald Franklin and Beulah (Walberry) Sutton. He married Nola Ruth Miller on December 22, 1948, in Metz, and she survives.
Survivors also include his six children, Mary L. (Bill) Bickel, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Duane A. Sutton, of Edon, Donald M. Sutton, of Edon, Larry D. (Peggy) Sutton, of Shortsville, New York, Ellen Kaye (Byron) Beck, of Auburn, Indiana, and Michael L. Sutton, of Greenfield, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Hollis, Dean and Raymond Sutton; and one sister, Donna Sutton.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016, from 3:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon. Services will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, with Pastor Nathan Derico officiating. Interment will follow in Columbia Cemetery, with grave side military rites conducted by the Edon American Legion and the United States Army Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to Heart to Heart Hospice.
