James Zeller, 93

James E. Zeller, age 93, of Wauseon passed away late Monday September 22, 2014 at Heartland of Wauseon. After starting his career with The Kroger Company, in 1949 Jim purchased Jim’s Red and White which he owned with his wife Virginia. He also co-owned with his wife Virginia the former Zeller Hardware, the Chief Motel and was a partner with Spiess and Zeller Real Estate in Wauseon.

Mr. Zeller was born in Swanton, Ohio on March 20, 1921 the son of the late Ray E. and the late Hattie L. (Scott) Zeller. On July 4, 1940 he married the former Virginia Fauble and she preceded him in death in 2008. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Wauseon for many years, a charter member of the Wauseon Rotary Club, a former member of the Wauseon City Council and the Wauseon Homecoming Committee. He was also a US Marine Corp veteran of WWII and a member of the Wauseon Robinson-Gibbs American Legion Post #265. Mr. Zeller was a lifelong avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan.

Surviving are sons; Paul (Paula) Zeller of Wauseon, Mark (Jennifer) Zeller of Cincinnati, daughter; Louise (Lee) Bohlander of Fort Wayne, grandchildren; Kelly Stevens, Karen Rettig, Anne Dechiro, Amy Clark, Marlo Stevens, Kelsey Zeller, Andrew Zeller, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his wife was daughter, Diane Meyer, brother Virgil Zeller and sisters; Edith Zeller and Violet McElhaney.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday September 26, 2014 at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon with Pastor Ruth Ann Scoby officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00-6:00pm.
