Jan Jackson, 73

Joan “Jan” Louise Jackson, 73 years, passed away after an extensive illness on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at The Inn and Villa at Fountain Park, Bryan.  Jan was born on February 28, 1940 in Defiance, Ohio the daughter of the late Raymond Wayne and Jean Louise (Garber) Jackson.  She was a 1958 graduate of Bryan High School and then attended the Riverside Hospital School of Nursing where she met and married Maurice Fournier MD, of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  Jan moved back to Bryan in 1981, and worked at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Hillside Country Living and Park View Nursing Home and at Quadco Rehabilitation.  She became a resident of Parkview Nursing Home in 1994 because of multiple health problems.  She moved into Fountain Park Assisted Living in 2011.  Jan enjoyed writing poetry and short-stories.

She is survived by four sons, Jeffrey Fournier of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Daniel (Lulu) Fournier of Shenzhen, China, Jean-Francois “Joddy” Fournier of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada and Pierre Fournier of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada; two grandchildren, Ariel Fournier and Amaryssa Fournier of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada; one brother, Jerry (Deb) Jackson of Bryan; two nephews, Robert (Teresa) Jackson of Lorton, Virginia and John Jackson of Kremmling, Colorado and one niece, Crystal Jackson of Bryan.  She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband.

Jan has donated her body to the Anatomical Donation Department of the University Of Toledo Medical Center, Toledo for research.  There will be no visitation.  Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Bryan Community Center, 1130 Buffalo Road, Bryan.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.
