Janet J. Zenz, 86

Janet J. Zenz, 86, of Montpelier passed away early Friday morning at Genesis HealthCare Center in Bryan. She was born on May 1, 1930 in Montpelier to Lawrence and Mildred (Spangler) Snyder. Janet graduated from Montpelier High School in 1948. She married Jack D. Zenz and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2012.

Janet was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Montpelier. She was an operator for General Telephone and was employed by Allen-Cunniff Furniture in Montpelier. Janet and Jack enjoyed collecting antiques, together they owned and operated J & J Antiques for approximately 25 years.

She is survived by two sons, Steven (Gayla) Zenz of Des Moines, Iowa and Scot (Linda) Zenz of Pioneer; one daughter, Stacey (Bob) Walkup of Pioneer; one sister Linda (Dick) Moog of Bryan; and four grandchildren, Kevin (Gwen) Zenz, Katie Zenz, Emma Zenz and Jack Zenz.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, and two brothers, Keith and Larry Snyder.

A time to receive friends will take place on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier with a celebration of life service immediately following calling hours at 7:00 p.m. at funeral home with Pastor James Mays to officiate. Janet will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Memorial contributions may be given to CHP-Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
