Janice L. Harter, 71 years, of Sherwood, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance. Janice was born July 10, 1943 in Ney, Ohio the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Elser) Obenland. She married Thomas Harter on May 10, 1965 in Elkhart, Indiana and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1981. Janice was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed caring for her yard, paying cards and taking an occasional trip.
Surviving are her five children, Angela Piercy of Oakwood, Ohio, Brenda (Michael) Stahl of Russiaville, Indiana, Edward (Sandra) Harter of Centerville, Arkansas, Janet (Kevin) Brown of Peru, Indiana and Martha “Bobbi” Harter of Sherwood; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one sister, Ellen Cooper of Hicksville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas and one sister, Thelma Sponseller.
There will be no visitation and services will be private for the family. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood.
