Jerome B. “Jerry” Houck, age 85, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 5:15 P.M. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Fairlawn Haven Care Center in Archbold, Ohio, after a brief illness. Jerry was a 1955 graduate of Bryan High School and served in the United States Air Force. He had been employed at The Aro Corporation for more than twenty years and later retired from CE Electronics. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards and watching sports, especially Bryan sporting events, throughout the years. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, Suburban Golf Club, and Bryan Eagles, Aerie #2233. His life centered around family and he loved to travel with them in his retirement years.
Jerry Houck was born on September 27, 1937, in Bryan, the son of Robert and Helene (Jewell) Houck. He married Mary L. Burns on August 24, 1960, in Blakeslee, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2009.
Survivors include his three children, Joel (Lora) Houck of Woodbine, Maryland, Jared (Abby) Houck, of Carmel, Indiana, and Jenny (Katherine Holloway) Houck, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina. He also leaves behind his pride and joy, eleven grandchildren, Madeleine, Emma, Garrett, Olivia, Caroline, Lillian, Eleanor, Genevieve, Beatrice, Spencer and Mary Katherine. He is also survived by his sister, Jewell (Thomas) Short, of Columbus, Ohio. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 noon in the church with Reverend Andrew Wellmann officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, with grave side military rites conducted by the Bryan American Legion/VFW Joint Honor Guard and United States Air Force Honor Guard.
