James B. “Jim” Borton, 95, of Wauseon, died Wednesday morning in Fulton Manor, Wauseon, Ohio. Son of the late James Leo and Margaret (Boyes) Borton, Jim was born August 20, 1917 in Chesterfield Township, Fulton County, Ohio on the family farm where he lived his entire life. He was a 1935 graduate of Chesterfield-Dover High School. He married Gladys M. Rupp on June 22, 1941 and she survives. Jim was a lifelong farmer and served 30 years as Chesterfield Township Clerk and Trustee. He was a quiet man but known for his mechanical skills and quick wit. He attended Tedrow United Methodist Church.
Survivors: Wife of 71 years, Gladys M. Borton, Wauseon. Three children, son, Ronald (Janet) Borton, Wooster, Ohio, daughter, Juanita (Richard) Gunn, Ida, Michigan, son, Dennis (Pat) Borton, Roxboro, NC. 9 grandchildren. 23 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Martha Abbott, Melvindale, Michigan.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Tedrow United Methodist Church, Tedrow, Ohio. Rev. Kevin Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in Tedrow Cemetery. Funeral fellowship luncheon will follow the interment services in the church. Friends may call 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday in the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon, Ohio.
Friends may also call 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the church.
