Joan Bauer, 88

Joan Bauer, 88 years of Hicksville, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Dupont Hospital with her family by her side. Joan was born June 14, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of the late Denver Earl and Stella (Parker) Mock, I. She was a 1954 graduate of Southside High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She married Claron Bauer on December 23, 1975, and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2010. Joan was a waitress, cook and manager for several area restaurants, most notable the Java Shop in Hicksville, and Dale’s Restaurant in Fort Wayne. She was a member of Hicksville Eagles Aerie and the Hicksville American Legion Post Ladies Auxiliary. Joan enjoyed bowling, often participating in bowling leagues, going to casinos, and camping. She truly treasured the time she could spend with her family. They were her main interest!

Surviving are her two daughters, Becky (Harley) Wright of Hicksville and Beverly Hiatt of Syracuse, Indiana; five grandsons, Aaron (Elena) Caley, Brian Caley, Tim Hiatt, Mike Sudlow, Heath Sudlow; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia “Jinny” Mitchell and Fay (Robert) Sitton both of Hicksville; one sister-in-law, Judith Mock of Bryan.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claron; stepdaughter, Vickie Sudlow; two grandsons, Troy Sudlow and Bradley Hiatt; one sister, Bonnie Conley; three brothers, William Mock, Denver Mock II, and Leroy “Rick” Mock.

Visitation for Joan Bauer will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 4;00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, where the Hicksville Eagles Auxiliary, will conduct services promptly at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Funeral services for Joan will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in the funeral home with Pastor Jack Teeple officiating. Interment will follow in Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Hicksville Eagles Aerie Scholarship Fund in her memory.
