Joanna Garber, age 91, of Centerville, Ohio and formerly of Stryker, Ohio died peacefully Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Bethany Village in Centerville, Ohio. She was born to the late Charles and Gladys (Wolfe) Jolly on August 07, 1925 in Stryker, Ohio, where she lived most of her life. On March 20, 1946 she married Richard D. Garber and he preceded her in death on August 02, 2005. Joanna was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her life. Joan, as she was known, wore many hats, and during her varied careers served a tenure as the Village Clerk of Stryker, as well as the Clubhouse Manager at Riverside Greens Golf Course in Stryker. She was a member of Stryker United Methodist Church. Joan loved to keep busy with antiquing, playing her organ, gardening, quilting and golfing. All of her children are fortunate to have been the recipient of her quilts.
Many of her favorite memories were made in summers with her children and grandchildren at Coldwater Lake. She also treasured memories of golfing with her son and grandsons. Another of her cherished memories was of the trip she made with her husband and her son, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Cathy, to Germany. Joan was fun loving and forever loyal and leaves with the family the legacy of the importance of family.
Joanna’s survivors include her children: Karen (Kermit) Lowery; James (Cathy) Garber; Judy Waldfogel; and Becky (Carlton) Schooley. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Chad (Beth) Waldfogel, Cory (Jamie) Coch, Kurt (Kara) Schooley, Brandon (Katie) Garber, Erin Nazario, Ryan (Jennifer) Garber, Anne Schooley, Taylor (fiance’ Michael Reddy) Gottstein, Connor (fiancee’ Destiny Cotterman) Gottstein and Jordan Gottstein. In addition she leaves, 17 great-grandchildren: Megan and Leah Waldfogel; Max, Romy, and Jett Nazario; James, Jack, Claire and Jude Coch; Bennett, Amelia and Parker Schooley; Ava and Elaine Garber; and Mason, Nora and Charlotte Garber, and soon to welcome Delilah Grace.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, an infant daughter, Mary Sue; and all of her siblings; Denver Jolly, Pauline Hyatt, Vivian Cain, Mildred Rupp, Mike Jolly, Betty Ballreich and Duane Jolly.
