Joaquin R. Moncivais, 84

Joaquin R. Moncivais, 84, of Hicksville, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his family. Joaquin was born August 16, 1938, in Bocas, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, son of the late Martin and Julia (Ramirez) Moncivais. He married Ramona Martinez in 1964 in Est. Manuel, Tamps., Mexico. Joaquin was a general laborer for Brooks Construction Company in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Hicksville. Joaquin was very devoted to Our Lady of the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe. Joaquin loved to spend time outdoors especially tending to his Jalapenos Garden, tinkering, and doing home improvement projects. He was known to be a hardworking man that loved his family.

Surviving is his loving wife, Ramona of Hicksville, Ohio; four children, Alvaro (Rafaela) Moncivais of Hicksville, Ohio, Raquel Perez of Columbia City, Indiana, Lina Mendoza of Hicksville, Ohio and Bea Bustos of Butler, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Jesus (Kenzie) Moncivais, Mercedes Moncivais, Mario (Alexis) Meraz, II, Jose Lorenzo (Meghan Fahl) Perez, Javier Perez, Isabella Mendoza, J.R. Mendoza, Gaby Moncivais and Daniel Moncivais; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Julia Saldivar; two brothers, Catarino Moncivais Ramirez and Federico Moncivais Ramirez.  He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joaquin Alvaro Moncivais and four sisters.

Visitation for Joaquin R. Moncivais will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, where the recitation of the Rosary will be beginning at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2022, in St. Michael Catholic Church, Hicksville, with Father Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.

The family requests memorial contributions to be made to St. Michael Catholic Church- Altar Rosary Society.
