Joe A. Wisman, 78

Joe A. Wisman, 78, of Montpelier passed away early Saturday morning at his home. He was born on June 21, 1940 in Wauseon to Amos O. and Mary D. (Seward) Wisman. Joe graduated from Montpelier High School in 1958. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, stationed in Italy and Spain. He married Waneta M. Spencer and she survives.

In 2004 Joe retired from ARO Corp in Bryan after 25 years as an inspector, prior to that he was employed at Miller’s Body Shop in Montpelier for 12 years. He was also a former Special Deputy for the Williams County Sheriffs Department. Joe enjoyed travelling to car shows all around Northwest Ohio with his 1960 Corvette convertible, and going bass fishing with his wife. Joe was a member of the Pioneer American Legion, Montpelier Eagles and the Montpelier Moose.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Waneta; step children Mike Corcoran of Montpelier, Julie (Jim) McGinty of Montpelier, Susan Kruse of Bryan, Mary (Mark) Psurny of Styker and Lori Westfall of West Unity; thirteen step grandchildren, twelve step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild; and special puppy Lilli.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Linda Grubb and son-in-law Brad Westfall.

Visitation for Joe will be on Tuesday, September 11th from 11am-1pm at the Thompson Geesey Funeral Home on Empire Street in Montpelier. Services will follow at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Blank to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier with military graveside rites provided by the Montpelier Veterans. Memorial contributions may be given to the Williams County Humane Society.
