Johannes Damman, age 83 of Wauseon Went to his Heavenly home to be with the Lord.Saturday April 12, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He had been a painter and tree trimmer most of his working life.
Mr. Damman was born in Ridgeville Corners, Freedom Twp., Henry County, Ohio on August 4, 1930 the son of the late Fred and the late Frieda (Bostelman) Damman. On August 8, 1958 he married the former Marlene Bauer and she survives. He was a member of the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon, a US Navy veteran and a member of the Wauseon American Legion Post #7424. John was an avid Detroit Tiger and Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, telling bad jokes and tall tales. He was very fun, loving and sociable with friends and total strangers alike. In retirement he spent his time being a very loving and caring grandpa, father and husband.
Surviving beside his wife, Marlene, are children; Bruce (Polly) Damman of Liberty Center, Nadine (Gary) Wise of Whitehouse, Bradley Damman of Wauseon, Gary (Kristin) Damman of Toledo, Brenda (Homer) Rodriguez of Wauseon and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving is brother; Walter (Ruth) Daman of Lafayette, CA, sisters, Luella Beck of Gibsonburg, and Kathleen (Kenneth) Gerken of Napoleon. Preceding him in death were brothers Franklin, Henry, Arnold and Victor and sister Pauline Gerken.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday April 16, 2014 at the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon with Pastor Charles Althoff officiating. Interment will follow in the Winameg Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon on Tuesday from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00pm.
