John Koerner, 80

John Philip Koerner, age 80, of rural Edgerton, Ohio, passed away on November 9, 2014, at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn, Indiana. He was born on October 5, 1934, in Edgerton, Ohio, the fourth of seven children of Elmer and Hazel Koerner. He was a 1952 graduate of Edgerton High School and a veteran of the peace-time Army, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, from 1956-1958.

On August 29, 1959, John married Patsy Lukrofka in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a well-known dairy farmer in Milford Township, south of Edgerton. He served as a board member of several farm organizations. Among them were The Landmark Association, Defiance Soil and Water Conservation, Milk Marketing Association, Northwestern Electric Co-op, and the Federal Land Bank. He was a long-time elder at West Milford Church of Christ and later a member of Bryan First Church of Christ.

John is survived by his wife, Patsy; son, Jim (Maggie) Koerner, of Gahanna, Ohio; daughter, Teresa (Christopher) Johnson, of rural Edgerton; two grandsons, Jimmy and Gavin Koerner; and one granddaughter, Madison Johnson. Also surviving are his siblings, Roger (Alice) Koerner, of Long Beach, California, Agnes (Harold) Christiansen, of Cincinnati, Roy (Judy) Koerner, of Edgerton, and LaVon (Lisa) Koerner, of Wayne, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Philip, and brothers, Vance and Mark.

Visitation will be held at Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton on Thursday, November 13, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. A private grave side service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. A Celebration of Life service for John Koerner will be held at the First Church of Christ, Bryan, Ohio, at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, November 14, 2014, with Pastor Larry Snavely officiating.

Memorials may be given to the First Church of Christ, Bryan.
