John Well, 85

John William Weller, Sr., 85 years, of Ney, passed peacefully amongst loving family on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the University of Toledo Medical Center, Toledo.  John was born November 11, 1929 in Ney, Ohio, the son of the late William and Alma (Haase) Weller.  He was a graduate of Ney High School’s class of 1947 and the Irving E. Macomber School’s class of 1948.  John’s proudest accomplishments were his marriage to Luella Dietrich on May 5, 1950 and the family they created together.  He spent his working years at Ney Lumber Company in Ney, Ohio, first working at his father’s knee and eventually becoming the sole owner of the business until his retirement.  After retirement, John was most fond of spending time with his family and tending his property from the perch of his mower.

Active in his local 4-H program, John taught woodworking for many years.  He was also a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bryan, Ohio, and served on the church council for many years.

Preceded in death by his parents, William and Alma (Haase) Weller and one sister, Phyllis (Weller) Swaninger.  John is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Luella of Ney; their three children, John (Sharon) Weller, Jr of Ney, Ohio, Susan (Lloyd Bryant) Crites of Edgerton, Ohio and Christine (Jim) Mackie of Bryan, Ohio; five amazing grandchildren, David Weller, Sarah (Eric Temte) Crites, Melissa (Chuck) Williams, Mackenzie Mackie and Nicholas Mackie as well as two wonderful great-grandchildren, David Weller, Jr., and Brantley Williams.

Visitation for John William Weller, Sr., will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 2: 00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.  Funeral services for John will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 509 Center Street, Bryan with Pastor Mary Beth Smith-Gunn officiating.  Private interment for the family will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Bryan.
