Judith P. Roemer, 75

Judith P. Roemer, age 75, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed from this life on Saturday November 4, 2017, at Parkview Nursing Center in Edgerton, Ohio, surrounded by friends and family.

Judy was born on January 04, 1942, in North Vernon, Indiana, Jennings County, in her grandmother Alice’s home. She was the daughter of Ethel and John (Hendricks) Dotson.

She married Arthur Maxwell on August 22, 1958. He preceded her in death on November 8, 2007. She later married Alan Roemer on December 14, 1985. He survives her.

Judy was a role model to her family and young women for nearly her entire life. Judy was an electronic technician at Wave Tech in Beech Grove, Indiana, from 1971- 1984. Additionally, she was an active member of School #18 PTA from 1963 – 1973 and served as the PTA president at School #18 in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1968 – 1973. Judy’s reach was far and wide in her community as she was the troop leader for both Bluebirds and Campfires from 1967-1971. In addition to being a mother figure for the Girl Scout community, she imparted confidence and a sense of self-worth as the Indianapolis girls’ softball coach from 1975 to 1978. She is leaving a lasting memory for her friends, family and community.

She relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1986 where she continued to raise her children and work as the Food Manager at Lassus BP until her retirement in 2004.

Judy later moved to Hicksville, Ohio to remain under the care of her daughter LaDonna, until a series of stokes required her to become a resident of the Parkview Nursing Center in Edgerton, Ohio where she lived out the remainder of her beautiful life.

When Judy was younger she loved spending time with her large family of siblings. Together they enjoyed cooking out, playing cards, Scrabble, and raising their children together.

Judy is survived by four of her children, Arthur (Cheryl) Maxwell of Lebanon, Indiana; Michael (Cheryl) Maxwell of Santee, California; LaDonna (Mark) Dennis of Hicksville, Ohio; and Alyson Roemer of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was blessed with twelve grandchildren: Ronald (Valarie) Pate of Tacoma, Washington; Jackie (Rollo) Pate of Olympia, Washington; Michael (Tara) Maxwell, of San Diego, California; Kevin (Toshawa) Leath of Lafayette, Indiana; Dustin (Anissa) Leath of Lebanon, Indiana; Nick Leath of Lebanon, Indiana; Scott (Lacy) Leath of Lebanon, Indiana; Megan (Ryan) Leath of Indianapolis, Indiana; Addison Bushfield of Lafayette, Indiana; Brandon Smith of Hicksville, Ohio; Ben Scriver of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Sophie Scriver of Fort Wayne, IN.

She also leaves behind thirteen great grandchildren, Niko Fiock, Deonnie Atalig, Isia Pate, Davron Pate, Justin Pate, Jeshaliah Shoup, Izik Shoup, Linniyah Shoup, Jase Leath, Bransyn Leath, Joseph Leath, Nick Leath, Chloe Fawley; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She is survived by seven siblings, John (Debbie) Dotson of Spring Hill, Florida; Donald J Dotson of Utah; Dennis (Betty) Dotson of Indianapolis, Indiana; Peggy Brown of Bern, North Carolina; Patricia Culross of Noblesville, Indiana; Julie Miller of Harriman, Tennessee and Robert Dotson, of Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ethel (Hendricks) and John Dotson; a husband Arthur Maxwell Sr. her youngest son, Francis (Frank) Rene Maxwell; two sisters, Betty Jean Moore, Lacie Kay Roberts and a brother, Larry Wayne Dotson.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 A.M.to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2017, in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, Ohio. A service celebrating Judy’s life will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
