Judy A. Travis, 73 years, of Bryan, passed away suddenly, Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan. Judy was born January 6, 1944 in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Marvin O. and Ruth E. (Burkett) Showman. She was a 1961 graduate of Liberty Center High School. She married Bryce Travis on January 27, 1962 in Liberty Center, and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2010. Judy was the co-owner of the former Bryan Building Center for 40 years, retiring in 2015. A member of Faith United Methodist Church, where she assisted with the food pantry. Judy also assisted with the Salvation Army and their care for local families. Judy enjoyed playing cards, reading, caring for her flower gardens, doing cross stitch and traveling, especially to Dauphin Island and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She truly treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and their activities.
Surviving is her son, Mike (Joanna Smith) Travis of Bluffton, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Mackenzie Kos, Madison Travis and Tyler Travis; one sister, Kay Showman of Liberty Center, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryce; one daughter, Shelley K. Howard who preceded her on February 21, 2015 and her parents.
Memorial services for Judy A. Travis will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in Faith United Methodist Church, 225 East Butler Street. Bryan with Pastor Eric Dailey officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.
