A jury trial of a man accused of rape and kidnapping a child ended quickly in a mistrial in Henry County Common Pleas Court. 21 year old Sabashtian Lewis, of Osseo, Michigan, is charged with rape and kidnapping, both first-degree felonies, of an 11-month-old child. According to court records, during jury selection, Lewis’ counsel made an oral motion for a mistrial due to a statement that a potential juror made in open court. The court granted the mistrial. The case was rescheduled for a jury trial starting Sept. 29th at 9 a.m., and Lewis waived his right to a speedy trial. Bond continued as previously set, and Lewis remains at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.
