Kathryn L. Cooper, 99

Kathryn L. Cooper, 99, long-time resident of Sherwood, Ohio, passed away October 28, 2024, at Fountain Park Assisted Living & Memory Care, Bryan, Ohio.  Kathryn was born April 17, 1925, in Mark Center, Ohio, daughter of the late Ira and Helen (Breininger) Kline.  She graduated from Mark Center High School.  Kathryn married Virgil H. Cottrell Jr. on October 20, 1944, and together they had two children, before passing suddenly on February 15, 1960.  She then married John V. Cooper Jr. on September 20, 1962, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2004. Kathryn was a homemaker, raising their children and tending to the needs of her family, until Virgil passed, then she went to work as a Teller at the Hicksville Bank.  She was a member of the Sherwood United Methodist Church, attending until her health no longer allowed her to.  Kathryn will be remembered as being a hard worker, who put her family above herself.  She was a talented knitter and crocheter, making many afghan blankets over the years.

Surviving are her two children, Carol (Duane) Jackson of Bryan, and Paul Cottrell of Sherwood; two grandchildren, Rodney (Penny) Jackson of Holland, Ohio, and Chad (Pauline) Jackson of Cape Coral, Florida; and three great-grandchildren, Emmalee Jackson, Cooper Jackson and Payten Jackson.  Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Virgil and John; and by her eight siblings.

Visitation for Kathryn L. Cooper will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 N. Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio.  Funeral Services will immediately follow in the funeral home beginning at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Kevin Doseck officiating.  Interment will follow in Lost Creek Cemetery, Farmer, Ohio.
