Kathy Jo Bergman, 72, of Cecil, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in her residence. She was born August 12, 1949 in Defiance, Ohio, daughter of the late Harold and Inga (Stenger) Strait. Kathy was a 1967 graduate of Fairview High School. She married Lynn Bergman on December 20, 1968 in Defiance, Ohio, and he survives. Kathy was a graduate of Defiance College and then taught third grade at the Mark Center Elementary School before returning to nurse’s training at Parkview School of Nursing, where she earned her R.N. degree. She worked at Parkview Randallia (Fort Wayne), and Bryan, Paulding, and St. Elizabeth (Covington, Kentucky) Hospitals. Kathy founded and operated Friends and Neighbors In-Home Heath Care for five years. In the last few years, she was an independent instructor of Home Health Aides for the developmentally disabled. In her free time, Kathy enjoyed reading, gardening (indoor and outdoor plants) and loving her animals.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Lynn of Cecil, Ohio; one son, Lance Bergman of Farmer, Ohio; two daughters, Karrie Bergman of Watford City, North Dakota, and Dolly (Tab Pittman) Bergman of Flower Mound, Texas; five grandchildren; and one brother, David Strait of Edgerton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Angela and Debrah.
To honor Kathy’s wishes, no visitation or services will be held at this time. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, Ohio.
