Kenneth E. “Kenny” Sailer, Sr., 86

Kenneth E. “Kenny” Sailer, Sr., 86, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at The Gardens of Paulding, Paulding, Ohio. Kenny was born November 4, 1935, in Paulding County, Ohio, son of the late Rollie and Valene (Caryer) Sailer. He was the owner-operator of Sailer’s in Hicksville, Ohio, which started in Mark Center, Ohio. Kenny attended Mark Center United Methodist Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed harness racing, and owned racehorses driven by Bill Gale. He raced in Toledo, Detroit, Windsor, and Chicago as well as in Florida. Kenny was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and an ardent supporter of Hicksville High School Athletic teams.

Kenny is survived by his four children, Kenneth “Jake” Sailer, Jr. of Hicksville, Ohio, Diana (Duane) Hankey of Woodburn, Indiana, Jan (Michael) Walters of Bryan, Ohio, and Stan (Sandi) Sailer of Hicksville, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert G. “Cowboy” Sailer, and Bud Sailer; one sister, Ellen Sailer.

A gathering of family and friends will be held for Kenneth E. “Kenny” Sailer, Sr. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 2;00 – 5:00 P.M. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526. A Celebration of Life service will follow in the funeral home beginning at 5:00 p.m. with Patricia Peter, celebrant, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hicksville High School Athletic Department or Community Health Professionals Hospice.
