Kerry C. Welch, age 63, of Napoleon died late Saturday August 13, 2016 in his home following an extended illness. Prior to his illness he had worked as a Journeyman Electrician for IBEW Local 8.
Mr. Welch was born on July 14, 1953 in Washington, D.C. The son of the late Albert Edmund and Opal Mae (Green) Welch, Jr. On May 9, 1992 he married the former Linda Shelt and she survives. He is a veteran of the US Navy having served aboard the USS Nimitz. He loved playing drums in the Delta and Napoleon Community Bands.
Surviving besides his wife is daughter; Heather (Chris) Smart, son; Aaron Welch, grandchildren; Jordan and Mya Smart. Also surviving is mother Opal Mae Davis and sister Dawn (Jim) Wheeler and “special” girls; Jennifer “Blondie” Thatcher, Celia Cortez, Michelle Schoonover and Katelynn McGraw. Preceding him in death was his father, step-father and grandson, Jon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday August 18, 2016 at the Grisier-Weigel Funeral Home in Delta. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00-8:00pm on Wednesday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to; Delta Community Band, Kindred Hospice or the charity of the family’s choice.
