Laramie “Larry” Harness, Sr., 77 years, of Hamilton, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, in his residence. Larry was born on January 27, 1938 in Winchester, Indiana to the late Gaylord Josiah and Suzanna Alice (Meeks) Harness. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He served during peace time. Larry married Janet Ruth Hart on March 5, 1961 in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, she preceded him in death on November 6, 2005. Larry worked as a machinist and was self-employed. He also worked as a truck driver. Larry was a member of the Orland American Legion Post 423. He enjoyed playing in his band and was the co-founder of the country western band, “The Freightman.” Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling to Florida.
Surviving are his two daughters, Jacklynn Sue Harness, of Auburn, Indiana, Lulu Leora (Gerald Lee Jr.) Fraley, of Waterloo, Indiana; two sons, Larry (Cathy Jones) Harness Jr, of Hamilton, Indiana, Benny Joe (Kathy Jones) Tilley, of Selma, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mac (Sharron) Harness, of Angola, Indiana, Randy (Nicole) Harness, of Pleasant Lake, Indiana; two sisters, Pamela Harness Wong, of Los Angeles, California, Sandra Harness Gentry, of El Cerito, California. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Janet, two brothers, Lance Harness and Dewayne Harness.
There will be no visitation and private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hamilton, Indiana.
