Jobless numbers in Williams County and northwest Ohio rose slightly prior to the COVID-19-related shutdown of Ohio businesses. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says the state rate for March was 5.5 percent, up 1.4 percent from February. The U.S. rate is at 4.4 percent…which is where Williams County’s is at now…up from 3.2 percent in January. Defiance County’s non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March was 5.1 percent, up from 4.9 percent in February.
