Lelah Knecht, 94

Lelah M. Knecht, 94 years, of San Antonio, Texas, and formerly of Bryan, Ohio and Munising, Michigan, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at Autumn Winds Retirement Lodge, Schertz, Texas.  Lelah was born September 6, 1919, in Williams County, Ohio, the daughter of the late John C. and Rosa (Walters) Knisely.  She was a 1937 graduate of Edon High School.  She married LaMar Knecht on August 17, 1941 in Edon, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2000.  Lelah moved to the upper peninsula of Michigan and was a resident of at Harbour View Assisted Living.  She was a faithful attender of Munising United Methodist Church while living in Munising.  She later lived in Tendercare Health Center.  In 2009, Lelah moved to Schertz, Texas and lived in Autumn Winds Retirement Lodge.  While in her working career, Lelah was an office manager for the Credit Bureau of Williams County for 10 years.  She also worked in the Lincoln Elementary School cafeteria of the Bryan City Schools.  Lelah was a long time member of Faith United Methodist Church, Bryan where she was active in the United Methodist Women.  She was also a Past President of the former Bay View Study Club.  She was active with the Williams County Retired Teachers and Williams County Historical Society as well as the Church Women United.

Surviving are her two daughters, Janet K. Black of San Antonio, Texas and Susan K. (Bill) Coldsnow of North Olmsted, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Jessica Tucker) Black, Matthew (Jamie) Coldsnow, and Michael (Mindy) Coldsnow; five great-grandchildren, Zachary Coldsnow, Emma Coldsnow, Brooke Coldsnow, Austin Coldsnow and Owen Coldsnow; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, LaMar; one grandson, Marcus Coldsnow; two sisters, Bessie Calvin and Thea Fisher and two brothers, Homer and Glenn Knisely.

Visitation for Lelah M. Knecht will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Faith United Methodist Church, 225 East Butler Street, Bryan where funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Becky Ploughe officiating.  Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.
