Leo E. Rickard, 91 years, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center, Bryan, Ohio. Leo was born on October 30, 1922 to Sherman and Floy Rickard at their home in Pioneer, Ohio. He graduated from Pioneer High School in 1940. Leo married Bernice L. Welch on December 26, 1942 at her parents’ home in Edon, Ohio. Leo started farming in 1940 in Pioneer, Ohio and continued for the next 20 years. When he retired from farming in 1960 he began selling cars until he retired in 1986. He was employed by Allied Products in Hillsdale, Michigan, D. Maldron Motor Sales, John Melton Motor Sales and Bryan Ford Mercury. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Bryan.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bernice L. Rickard; one son-in-law, Thomas E. Rea and one grandson, Jonathon R. Rea, both of Springfield, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Richard Newcomb of Bryan.. He was preceded in death by his parents, his only daughter, Janet Lee Rea; four brothers, Randal, Rhue, Clinton and Paul Rickard; four sisters, Gladys Myers, Irene Wheeler, Imogene Barnhard and Mary Ann Newcomb.
Private graveside services will be held at Floral Grove Cemetery, Pioneer, Ohio. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.
