Level Three Emergency Declared

Most areas remain under a level three snow emergency. In Defiance County, the Sheriff’s Office reports that the level three emergency will remain in effect until further notice, and all county offices are closed today.

At a level 3, all roadways are closed to everyone except emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their places of employment to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.

If you don’t have to be on the roads, officials say the best thing to do is to stay warm indoors. If you absolutely must travel, here’s at least one warning…

The Defiance County Highway Department says Holly Road by the Defiance/Paulding County line has been deemed impassable.

Other roads in the area are also in very treacherous condition.
