Loren R. Shaffer, age 72, of Montpelier, Ohio, died at 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Evergreen Manor where he was a resident. He was a truck driver and retired from Roadway Trucking after more than 20 years of service. Loren was a former member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233 and the Teamster’s Union.
Loren was born July 6, 1940 in Williams County, the son of William and Lena (Repp) Shaffer. He married Joyce I. Krill in March of 1961 and she preceded him in death on June 24, 2010.
Loren is survived by his daughters, Frances Dee (Tom) Heston, of Montpelier, Cindy (Bob) Sumner, of Phoenix, Arizona and Roberta “Bobbi” (John) Sickles, of Stryker; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister, Vickie Shaffer, of Bryan and brothers, Marlin Shaffer and John (Bunny) Shaffer, both of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, John Joseph Steffes, II; great granddaughter, Toni Marie Douglas; brothers, Gerald, Paul and Terry Shaffer and an infant sister.
Funeral services for Loren R. Shaffer will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Sam Byroads officiating. Burial will follow at Shiffler Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday.
