Lyle J. Freed, 81

Lyle J. Freed, 81 years, of Bryan, passed away early Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Genesis Healthcare-Bryan Center, where he was a resident. Lyle was born September 27, 1936 in Bryan, the son of the late Harry and Evelyn (Clougher) Freed. He was a 1954 graduate of Bryan High School and then attended Miami University. He married Linda A. Weaver on September 1, 1956 in Bryan, and she survives. Lyle was a construction worker, part owner of Weaver Construction and later worked for Isaac Properties. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bryan, Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233 and the Bryan Moose Lodge #1064. In his free time, Lyle enjoyed golfing and watching Ohio State Football. His true passion in life was community service. He supervised the construction of the Isaac Fieldhouse and Imagination Station.

Surviving is his wife, Linda; two sons, David (Linda) Freed of Edon, Ohio and Douglas (Tina) Freed of Denver, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Cape, Justin Cape, Dillon Freed, Dalton Freed, Cassi (Charlie) Vojta, Tanya Freed and Kalie Freed, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Freed and two sisters, Lenore Yahraus and Phyllis Goldstein.

Memorial Services for Lyle J. Freed will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home- Lynn Street Chapel, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan with Rev. Peter Paige officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service beginning at 12:00 noon.
