Mack Stepping Down

Defiance’s assis­tant police chief will step down at the end of next month.

The Cres­cent News reports that 52 year old Jeff Mack, a 28-year vet­eran of the city police depart­ment, plans to retire on Jan. 30.

Mack said he has sent a let­ter to city offi­cials announc­ing his inten­tion to retire in Jan­u­ary. He plans to work up until his retire­ment date.

Mack joined the city police depart­ment in 1986 as a patrol­man before mov­ing up to sergeant sev­eral years later. A pro­mo­tion to lieu­tenant fol­lowed, and he was selected assis­tant chief in 2008.
