Mack Stepping Down

Defiance’s assistant police chief will step down at the end of next month.

The Crescent News reports that 52 year old Jeff Mack, a 28-year veteran of the city police department, plans to retire on Jan. 30.

Mack said he has sent a letter to city officials announcing his intention to retire in January. He plans to work up until his retirement date.

Mack joined the city police department in 1986 as a patrolman before moving up to sergeant several years later. A promotion to lieutenant followed, and he was selected assistant chief in 2008.
