Margaret Gebhardt Jones, 91

Margaret Gerhardt Jones, 91 years of Hicksville, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025, in her home with her family at her side. Margaret was born June 12, 1933, in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Jonathon Okey and Margaret Isabell (Skelton) Slaughter. She was a 1950 graduate of Hicksville High School. She married Rolf Carl Gerhardt on January 1, 1952, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 1974. Margaret then married James “Mouse” Jones on November 8, 1986, and he also preceded her in death on August 15, 2019. Margaret was the Village of Hicksville Income Tax Administrator for 17 years, retiring in 2004. Prior to this, Margaret worked for the Cadad Engineering Depot, Sold Real Estate and worked for the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of the Hicksville First Church of Christ. Margaret found joy in shopping, reading, crossword puzzles, and antiques. She treasured the time she could spend with her family.

Surviving are her five children, Jodi (Brendan) Flanary, Stacy (Dick) McGrew, Kris Carson, and Kenny (Theresa) Charles; stepdaughter, Lisa Jones of Ames, Iowa; son-in-law, Clayton Teixeira of Garrett, Indiana; 19 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra (Richard) Mastin of Hicksville; extended family, Tillie (Tom) Blust, Deana Spears and Missy Wilkerson.  She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; daughter, Debra Teixeira; son, Michael Gerhardt; grandson, Abraham Gerhardt Lengacher; five sisters and three brothers.

Visitation for Margaret Gerhardt Jones will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville. Funeral services for Margaret will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, in the funeral home with Mark Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery. Hicksville.
