Marion “Sonny” Golden, 81

Marion “Sonny” Golden, age 81, of rural Wauseon passed away peacefully early Saturday August 15, 2015 at Swanton Valley Center. Prior to his retirement he had worked for Scholz Homes for 17 years as a carpenter and drove truck for many years for Bettinger Farms.

Mr. Golden was born on April 25, 1934 in New Hope, Arkansas the son of the late William and the late Nancy (Epperson) Golden. On October 6, 1956 he married his sweetheart Wanda Johnson and she survives. They were married for more than 58 years. His family has many special memories of Sonny’s lifelong sense of humor and love of a good prank as well as the amazing work ethic he modeled. No project was too big for him to dive into with determination. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Swanton Valley Center for the loving care they showed Sonny.

Surviving besides his wife, Wanda, are sons; Rick of Liberty Center, Michael of Delta, Steve (Julie) of Bellevue, OH, Robert (Barb) of Toledo, daughter Sandra (Jim) Hutson of Wauseon, grandchildren; Jessica, Chris, Amanda, Amber, Josh, Nathan, Alyssa, Tristan and Collin and great-grandchildren, Paige, Catherine, Trebor, Hailey, Gavin and Gage. Preceding him in death besides his parents were brothers, Billy Charles Golden and Winston Golden.

Friends may call at the Grisier Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday August 20, 2015 at the Grisier Funeral Home in Delta with Pastor Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow in the Winameg Cemetery.
